Statement from Congressman Dan Donovan on Zika Funding

August 12, 2016
Press Release

“I’m glad the Obama Administration finally heeded the common-sense requests from me and other Members of Congress to reallocate existing funds to Zika research and response. It’s disappointing it took this long. Frankly, expecting mothers don’t care that it’s an election year. Hopefully we can now move forward together and tackle this crisis head-on.”

-- On July 13, Congressman Donovan urged the President to reallocate funds to Zika response. On July 19, Congressman Donovan announced that Zika vaccine development was in jeopardy and urged the President to reallocate funding to fill the gap. On July 22, Congressman Donovan urged the President again to reallocate funding to Zika response.

Congressman Dan Donovan serves on the House Committee on Homeland Security and the House Committee on Foreign Affairs. He chairs the House Subcommittee on Emergency Preparedness, Response, and Communications.
