Statement from Congressman Dan Donovan on Senate Passage of the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act
Note: Earlier today, the U.S. Senate voted to pass the “Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act,” which authorizes grants for local education, treatment, and enforcement programs. Donovan announced his support for the legislation in February.
“I’m thrilled to see the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act clear a major hurdle by passing overwhelmingly in the U.S. Senate. The next step is a vote in the House of Representatives. I won’t stop pressing the issue in Washington until we pass legislation giving local governments the tools they need to combat opioid addiction. Too many parents have buried their sons or daughters, and it’s clear the federal government’s response hasn’t been enough.”
