Statement from Congressman Dan Donovan on President Trump’s State of the Union Address
“Tonight, President Trump delivered a powerful message to the American people on building a safer, stronger and prouder nation. He outlined a vision of a united people, working together to face major challenges head-on and build off the progress made in the past year.
“Under the President’s direction, there has been a resurgence of confidence within our country. Years of stagnation have been replaced with an economy that is roaring back. Submissive governance has been transformed into American first leadership. Our adversaries who no longer feared us are now retreating in defeat. A once struggling middle class is now seeing the American dream in reach again.
“While our nation has made strides, the President made clear that there is still much work to be done. It’s time to address our crumbling infrastructure, broken immigration system, deadly opioid epidemic, and unfair trade deals. His proposals reflect that progress on all fronts will herald us into a new American moment.
“The President laid out a bold agenda for the years ahead. I look forward to working with the Administration and my colleagues in Congress to building a more prosperous nation for Staten Islanders, Brooklynites, and all Americans.”
