Statement from Congressman Dan Donovan on Commutation of Chelsea Manning’s Sentence
Congressman Dan Donovan (NY-11) released the following statement regarding President Obama’s decision to commute Chelsea Manning’s remaining sentence:
"A court-martial found Private Manning guilty of violating the Espionage Act by leaking classified documents. Manning's reckless actions endangered troops and sources. Today's commutation is a slap in the face to service members who put themselves in harm's way to defend America's interests, including our secrets."
-- Congressman Dan Donovan represents Staten Island and South Brooklyn in Congress. He serves on the House Committee on Homeland Security and the House Committee on Foreign Affairs.
