Donovan Reminds Sandy Flood Insurance Claimants that Today is Last Day to Request a FEMA Claims Review
Staten Island, NY—September 15, 2015....Congressman Dan Donovan (NY-11) reminded Staten Islanders and Brooklynites that today is the last day to request a flood insurance claims review from FEMA. After 60 Minutes revealed that reports documenting damage for flood insurance claims had been fraudulently altered, FEMA granted all Sandy claimants an opportunity to have their insurance payouts reevaluated.
“If you think your insurer underpaid you for any reason, you could be eligible for additional proceeds,” Congressman Donovan said. “Don’t forget that today is your last chance to request a review from FEMA.”
Last week, Donovan introduced the Flood Insurance Mitigation and Policyholder Protection Act, which requires engineers and adjustors to provide copies of their reports to the policyholder before providing copies to anybody else. This would eliminate the opportunity to fraudulently alter an engineering report without the policyholder’s knowledge.
Flood insurance claimants may call (866) 337-4262 until 9:00pm tonight to request a review.
