Washington, DC – May 17, 2018….Congressman Dan Donovan (NY-11) today honored the memories and sacrifice of New York City police officers killed as a result of their duties. As part of National Police Week, Donovan read the names in the House of Representatives chamber of the men and women who passed since he entered Congress in May 2015.

Congressman Donovan said, “Every day, women and men don blue uniforms and head out to the streets, unsure of what danger they may encounter. They protect my family and yours. May the families of those lost continue to be in our prayers.”

Also this week, Donovan voted to pass four bills to support law enforcement officers. The measures to toughen federal penalties against those who assault law enforcement agents, enhance the safety of correctional officers, provide increased resources to address the backlog of cases related to criminals identified through DNA testing, and recognize the importance of strengthening relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve.
