Donovan Announces Upcoming Telephone-Town Hall, Facebook Live Events
Staten Island, NY – April 11, 2017….Continuing his public engagement and commitment to accessibility, Congressman Dan Donovan (NY-11) today announced he will host a live telephone town hall on the evening of Monday, April 17th. Donovan will also participate in three Facebook Live town halls moderated by local reporters. Rachel Shapiro (Staten Island Advance), Anthony Pascale (NY1), and Paula Katinas (Brooklyn Daily Eagle) will pose questions of their choosing to Donovan during three separate events in the coming weeks.
“My most fundamental responsibility as your Congressman is to represent your interests faithfully in Washington. I need your feedback and opinions to do my job well. Constructive feedback is so important, and I’m excited about these upcoming events.”
Tele-town halls function like large conference calls. They allow thousands of people to ask questions and hear Donovan’s positions from the comfort and convenience of their homes. Donovan will dial approximately 50,000 Staten Island and South Brooklyn residents who will listen in to the hour-long conversation. Participants may ask questions and share their concerns if they wish, or simply listen to Donovan’s answers to the questions posed by others. A tele-town hall earlier this year connected with 14,000 residents, and discussion topics included healthcare reform, Medicare and Social Security, the Trump Administration, Russia, and climate change.
Staten Island and South Brooklyn residents who wish to join the tele-town hall may submit their information on the tele-town hall form under the “Contact” section at donovan.house.gov. The deadline to register is Friday, April 14th.
Donovan will also participate in a series of streamed Facebook Live town halls hosted by local reporters. Dates for those events will be announced as they’re scheduled. Donovan will answer questions posed by the reporters in real-time, streamed live to anybody interested in watching.
